Iran Analytica is a newsletter offering independent analysis of Iranian politics, foreign policy, and regional strategy, with a focus on the strategic consequences of Iran’s domestic power dynamics, its regional engagements, and its interactions with great powers. Rather than tracking daily events, it examines the underlying drivers shaping Iran’s behavior and the longer-term implications for the Middle East and the international order.
Iran Analytica is authored by Hamidreza Azizi, a scholar of Iran and Middle Eastern geopolitics. He is a Visiting Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), an Associate Researcher at the Clingendael Institute, and a Nonresident Fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs. His research focuses on Iran’s foreign and security policy, Iran–Russia relations, and regional order in the Middle East.
He is also the co-editor of the Clingendael blog series Iran in Transition and the author of the forthcoming book The Axis of Resistance: Iran, Israel, and the Struggle for the Middle East (Polity, 2026).
Iran Analytica publishes analytical briefs and strategic essays for readers seeking rigorous, accessible analysis of Iran’s role in regional and global affairs.
